shocking examples of CVs. Documents that are designed badly, not in the slightest bit appropriate for the role in question or just downright bad are easy to dismiss. However, it is those CVs that that
are almost perfect but at the same time so very, very wrong that can really harm your chances of getting the role. While the following might seem humorous, are you 100% confident that your CV
doesn't include any of the following common types of mistakes?:While it can of course be helpful, spell check isn't always your friend. Take for example the candidate who claimed she had
‘Reviewed company asses’, or one who boasted he was ‘Instrumental in ruining the entire European operation’.A missing comma can completely change the meaning of what you are
saying. For example: ‘My areas of expertise include marketing customer complaints and client communications.’Having attention to detail is crucial, as this candidate is all too aware:
‘Attention to detail is combined with rigorous time management, commercial drive and attention to detail.’Sometimes errors can be more subtle, such as the candidate who missed out a vital
word and ended up claiming he was ‘Responsible for fraudulent claims’.And finally, beware of ‘homophones’ — words that sound the same but have different spellings and
meanings. You wouldn't believe how often we see these two getting confused, even by job seekers at a senior level: ‘This roll was focused on the role–out of a new product–line across
the UK.’I know you would like to think that you wouldn't make these mistakes on your CV but you would be amazed how many CVs we see that do contain lapses of concentration.Let us take a look
over your CV today and not only will we make sure there are no glaring errors but we will also advise you on how your CV can make the impact that you desire it to.Get your in-depth CV critique
