Greenbank Holidays Ltd wins the InboxVision Email Gallery Design of the Week Award
This Greenbank Holidays Ltd email is an excellent example of how to use a short survey to obtain prospects’ likes and dislikes to provide a tailored proposal. This information will also enable future email campaigns to be highly-targeted and personalised. The subject line intrigues and encourages the reader to open up the email: “What’s your holiday wish list Mr Pitt?” The content of the email uses a clean, easy-to-read design and continues the same direct approach: “Put us to the test”. I selected the email from InboxVision’s “be inspired” Email Gallery, a small extract from their Email Intelligence database of a million promotional email designs.

Thomas Cook – how not to do emails
November 29th, 2011
It’s really no surprise that Thomas Cook is on its knees
As I’m sure you’ve heard, Thomas Cook is on the verge of bankrupcy. Having seen their recent email campaigns, this news is no surprise to me. Their emails really do make a good “Hot Not To” case study. Not to put too fine a point on it, the email below is pretty rubbish. I’ve added it to my “Hall of Shame” and here’s my blog about the mistakes they’ve made.
The subject line is “Getaway from it all for only £129 pp“. I found their email from searching through InboxVision’s “be inspired” Email Collections Gallery, a small extract from their Email Intelligence database of a million promotional emails & newsletter templates.

Naughty… but nice emails
My Friday email is from Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, illustrating a naughty-sounding subject line which is in fact totally innocent. When getting straight to-the-point is best
November 3rd, 2011
If your email proposition is easy-to-understand, then get on with it!
Intriguing subject lines are great if you have a complex offer, but if your sales proposition is straightforward it’s best to be unashamedly direct. I’ve chosen an email from Eurotunnel to illustrate the straight-to-the-point technique – the email is from InboxVision’s “be inspired” Email Gallery, a small extract from their Email Marketing Intelligence database of a million promotional & newsletter emails.
