If you search for “Email Marketing Trends 2012″ in Google, the top theme is Mobile, followed by Mobile, followed by, you guessed it, Mobile. Like it or not, the mobile revolution is upon us, and as the number of people using Smart phones and Tablets begins to accelerate rapidly, it’s clear that designs need to be fast-tracked to adapt to these new devices.
As part of everyday life, a growing proportion of us now find ourselves reading/filtering our emails on the hoof to save time and keep up to date everything. A basic principle of any email design is the need to function properly on a multitude of platforms but recipients will be less forgiving as the pace of digesting such content quickens.
Take these latest amazing stats into consideration… As of September 2012 ~ 25% of all email views, were done on mobile devices. Which is up nearly 70% in just 12 months.
Within 12 months we could be looking at up to 50% of all email views, being done on mobile devices. If you are not designing your emails to be compatible with mobile devices you are quickly being left behind.
The great news is that making your emails mobile friendly may not be as big of a job as your first thought. However, there are some “must-haves” when making your emails mobile compatible. We have done the research so you don’t have to, and compiled some of the latest and must read articles for mobile design best practices for you…enjoy!
