The rise of mobile email marketing

October 26th, 2012

Most people say they are accessing mobile email more than ever

Still remaining on the theme of mobile design, discover the importance and ever-changing pattern of how people access their emails using mobiles/smartphones.

QUICK TIPS:

  • Don’t be a DIV/: Use tables for layout.
  • Don’t use CSS shorthand (class=”body”) set all your styling inline, inside table columns <td>
  • Avoid paragraph tags as these can have their own individual padding
  • GIF’s and JPG’s only for images
  • Always provide alt text for images too.

  1. If 1 in 3 are using mobile email more, does that mean that the majority of mobile users are using mobile email the same or less often?

The 29% and 56% mobile stats – is this showing the phones used by mobile email users, or mobile users in general? What makes up the remaining 15%

The “Who uses it most stats” – what is this showing? A year-on-year increase? So, which age group uses mobile email most?

Hi Steve, the bar chart derived from the original survey shows that for all four age ranges shown (covering 18-54 years old), their mobile email usage is increasing. For other age ranges, mobile usage is presumably static.

The 29% and 56% mobile stats – this is about mobile email users, and the survey does not provide details of the remaining 15%.

The “Who uses it most stats” – this shows a year-on-year increase. The survey does not provide details of which age group uses mobile email most.
