Email Gallery Design of the Week

July 6th, 2012

Ellos (UK). wins the InboxVision Email Gallery Design of the Week Award

The Summer sales are in full swing and this weeks winner Ellos tries to lift every dampened spirits due to the lack of Summer by offering 2 promotions. The email also uses a animated gif umbrella which adds a really nice touch to the email.

Here are 2 reasons Ellos (UK)’s email has made this week’s winner:

1#. “Animated Imagery:” The use of an animated gif in this particular has been used to draw attention to the promotion Ellos is offering. Animation in emails can produce good ROI and also lead to better click-through rates on Call-to-Actions because the animation make the reader click or at least engages them. Unfortunately every good thing in has it’s downfalls and Animation in email is no exception with Outlook 2007 not being able to render animated emails very well as only the first frame of the gif is shown so it is recommended to communicate in the first frame just in case of rendering issues.

2#. “Tie-in with the weather:” With Summer in the UK getting off to very bad start or as some would say this is just “typical British weather” but Ellos tries it’s best to give us all a lift by offering 2 great promotions. These offers are cleverly advertised as it uses relevance to real life events and uses it to their advantage -and ours!- by offering some products at discounted prices.

Clarks - Email of the Week Crabtree & Evelyn Trading - Email of the Week
Clarks’ email uses the “zig-zag” approach which works really well as the eye glances from left to right down the email. Bold Calls-to-Actions, wacky text and great imagery make this an all round great email.
Crabtree & Evelyn have designed a really great email here. It has a very simplistic feel to it mixing suttle colours with bold colours such as the pink. This email has all the right elements of a really good email.

A very simple and sleek design from Lands’ End but works none the less. “Show now for the juiciest deals” is witty connection to the use of the lemon as the Sun.
