Ding Ding! Email Marketing Knocks Out Social Media in 5 Rounds!
The ongoing battle between email marketing and social media continues and this infographic highlights the highs and lows of both email marketing and social media and pits them in a 5 round knockout fight to see who come out on top. Email marketing wins pretty convincing.
Here are some key points from this infographic:
1#. “Benefits:” Email marketing and social media cancelling each other out when it comes to certain benefits that each can offer. Each platform offers a low-cost way of lists of people that is easy to measure and easy to interact with. Round 1 is a draw!
2#. “Growth:” When it comes to growth both can offer advantages but the figures in this infographic show that social media is growing very fast and produces very interesting numbers. A staggering $4.7 billion is the projected total that businesses will commit to social media. Small to medium-sized businesses are seeing social media as an opportunity to raise awareness of their brand by committing a 100% increase in social media budgets. Round 2 to social media!
3#. “Usage:” When it comes to online activities email is the most popular with a whopping 94% of people taking their time to send or read email. Social media commits 61% of people’s online activities which no way a bad score just could not match email this round. Round 3 to email marketing!
4#. “Reach:” Email marketing is pretty consistent in the percentage of people using email. Rather unsurprisingly social media decreases as the age groups move on into the older categories reaching 0% of 65+ year olds. One statistic that does surprise me though is the very small percentage of 18-29 year olds that are using social media. Round 4 to email marketing!
5#. “Features:” In this round things seem tight again but social media just loses out. Email Marketing edges social media in list management and autoresponder. Round 5 to email marketing!
So it seems that email marketing edged this contest but be sure social media will not give up without a fight and will only develop in the near future.
