Email Gallery Design of the Week

June 25th, 2012

Ironmongery Direct Ltd. wins the InboxVision Email Gallery Design of the Week Award

This email from Ironmongery Direct Ltd. combines fun, great timing and prizes. Not a bad mix. This email was sent the day after England qualified from the group stages of Euro 2012 and invites you to play a fun “Site Soccer Shootout” to be in with a chance of winning some great prizes.

Here are our top 3 reasons Ironmongery Direct Ltd.’s email has made this week’s winner:

1#. “Timing:” The timing is key with this email as it was sent right after England qualified from the group stages. With England qualifying and Euro 2012 in full swing there couldn’t of been a better time to send this email and to get people playing the game.

2#. “Incentives:” Everyone loves prizes and the chance to win things. Prizes like the 42 inch TV is also relevant to the timing as it would be a great way to watch all the action from Euro 2012.

3#. “Very clear design:” The headline in the email and the play now Call-to-Action are done in a very bold font to make it stand out and get you to play. The email uses very little text but uses just enough to get the important information across so you understand what is being offered.

In summary this email is a very good example of how timing can be key when advertising products.

Kelloggs: A good design showcasing a hot topic – London Olympics 2012. This email also uses a case study of olympic swimmer Summer Sanders in video format which is unique.

MyFace Cosmetics: The design is very minimalistic but uses the fastest growing social network at the moment Pinterest to host a competition. Pinterest is a great platform for cosmetic or other fashion orientated to showcase the latest products.

Nissan: This Nissan email uses a very clever design to make you read the full email. The subject line – “This is going to be one hell of a ride” makes you want to open the email uses reverse psychology with the headline “Don’t Look Down” which automatically makes you scroll down which reveals all these extreme sports. At the bottom of the email Nissan have used a clever headline – “Nissan Duke Built to Thrill” which plays on the extreme sports. All in all a very clever email.

Blue Mercury: The way Bluemercury has shown how their products work is well done. With instruction of how to apply the products and then a sum of one product plus another -should- equal the look of the model in the picture. Nice clear Call-to-Actions and a Facebook contest make this an all-round great email.

Apple: The timing of this email by Apple is what included it in this weeks email of the week. Students from universities, colleges and schools have just finished their exams. The headline tells us that purchasing an Apple product will be your most sensible decision you will make during your study, couple this with a great offer of £70  credit i you purchase a Mac or £35 for an iPad to get all you need for a successful study.

Easy Jet: This vibrant design is what caught our eye. You can’t miss the bright orange colour at the top of the email. This email also has very nice Call-to-Actions and an all round very sleek design.
